Cancer Care Closer To Home

Serving Iowa Since 1981

Before 1981, there was a vast disparity in cancer and blood disorder treatments in Iowa. To receive proper care, patients and their loved ones were forced to add traveling and lodging to an already stressful and expensive journey.

To answer the call, four visionary physicians joined forces to create Medical Oncology & Hematology Associates.  Every physician in the State of Iowa came to refer to our group as MOHA.

Physicians knew they could refer patients to MOHA and knew their patients would be seen immediately and would be cared for in the best of hands.  Over time, MOHA became a trusted partner to all and set the standard of not only being immediately available but for also forming foundational relationships with patient and physicians alike.  This culture still drives our every move — the delivery of compassionate care to those suffering from cancer or blood disorders with an urgency that matches their condition.

We are proud partners with over 20 health systems in central Iowa and surrounding outreach hospitals.  The care teams at Mission Cancer + Blood are made up of physicians and advanced practice providers that have been trained in the treatment at nationally recognized programs.

The organization became part of UI Health Care in late 2024, providing patients with the enhanced resources that come along with backing from a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated comprehensive cancer center, as well as access to a wide portfolio of clinical trials and rare cancer expertise.

We believe it is our calling and “mission” to uplift patients and their loved ones with hope, compassion and evidence-based treatments on their journey to remission, recovery or an enhanced quality of life.
