Mission Cancer + Blood

World-Class Cancer Care
In Your Own Backyard

World-Class
Close To Home. Closer To Heart.

As you or a loved one fight the unimaginable, we are right by your side, and right next door. Mission is a community-based healthcare team of cancer and blood specialists ready to provide you with the best possible care and treatment options for your needs.

Since 1981, we’ve been quietly serving those with cancer and blood disorders in all of central Iowa’s major medical facilities. We are proud partners with the John Stoddard Cancer Center at Unity Point and the MercyOne Cancer Center and work with them closely in providing the best care to our patients. The level of cancer care we provide — with evidence-based treatments, tumor boards, genetic counseling, and clinical trials — matches or exceeds the care available in any community oncology practice anywhere in the country.

Cancer Care. For Life.

  • NCI’s Cancer Moonshot – 1st Patient in the Nation

The National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Moonshot Study is a trial examining patient’s tissue and blood at two different time points to identify how cancer changes over time (if it becomes resistant to certain therapies) and how we can use this data to shape treatment decisions in the future. Mission Cancer + Blood participates in the Iowa-Wide Oncology Research Coalition (I-WORC), which was one of ten sites awarded participation in this study.  Through our participation with I-WORC, Mission Cancer + Blood enrolled the first patient in the nation in the Cancer Moonshot!

  • Genetic Counseling Services

Mission Cancer + Blood is proud to announce that we will now be offering genetic counseling services for patients followed by a Mission Cancer + Blood physician.  This is such an exciting development for patient care in Central Iowa!

  • Proud partners with the MercyOne Cancer Center, the John Stoddard Cancer Center at Unity Point, and The Iowa Clinic!

Mission Cancer + Blood is a proud partner with MercyOne Cancer Center, the John Stoddard Cancer Center, and The Iowa Clinic.  Since 1981, Mission has had two goals:  (1) delivering excellent patient care; and, (2) being a great partner to the major medical systems in Iowa.  Through these partnerships, we assist with the delivery of coordinated cancer care in both cancer centers and work daily with our partners to ensure the best of care and treatment for our patients.

  • Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Certified

Mission Cancer + Blood is a Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certified practice through the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The certification process creates a culture of excellence and self-examination that helps practices deliver the best care to their patients. By becoming QOPI Certified, our practice has demonstrated its commitment to quality to patients, payers, and the medical community.

  • We will meet you where you are – close to home!

Mission strives to serve patients close to their home.  We have always worked very closely with independent county hospitals as well as hospitals owned by or affiliated with our partners MercyOne or Unity Point.

Our Physician teams are traveling every day of the week all over the state of Iowa to ensure your care is received close to home.  Our teams love the weekly opportunity to practice in the smaller communities that make Iowa so special.
